Grizzlies-Thunder Preview
The Oklahoma City Thunder hope another matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies can help prevent them from breaking a dubious franchise record for the second time in 11 days.

The Thunder try to avoid a 10th consecutive home loss as they face the Grizzlies, the only team they have defeated over the past five weeks.

Oklahoma City (2-20) won in Memphis 111-103 on Nov. 29 to end a 14-game skid, which had tied a franchise record. Its only other victory came over Minnesota on Nov. 2.

That is the Thunder's lone regular-season win in Oklahoma City since moving from Seattle after last season. With nine straight home losses since that game, the Thunder have equaled the franchise record for a single season, set by the 1967-68 SuperSonics. The team did lose 11 consecutive home games bridging the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.

The Thunder are coming off a 112-102 loss to Golden State on Monday night in a game they nearly won after being down 89-68 with 11:21 remaining. Kevin Durant keyed the comeback attempt with 19 of his season-high 41 points in the fourth quarter, but Oklahoma City dropped its 18th in 19 games.

"In this league, when you get down by 20 it's hard to come back," said Durant, whose 30 points led six Thunder players in double figures in the win over Memphis. "We made a run at them late but we fell just a little bit short."

Durant is averaging 24.8 points and 7.0 boards during Oklahoma City's four-game losing streak.

In that skid since beating the Grizzlies, the Thunder have lost by an average of only 7.8 points - a significant improvement from getting outscored by 13.6 per game during their 14-game slide.

"Everyone in that locker room knows that we can play good basketball," Oklahoma City interim coach Scott Brooks told the team's official Web site. "And I know it sounds like a broken record, but we have played good basketball. But we have to do it for 48 minutes."

Memphis is starting to do that after losing 11 of 12 from Nov. 9-Dec. 3. The Grizzlies (6-15) have won two of three following Monday's 109-97 victory over Houston.

"We felt like we had to take care of this since they had two terrific players out," said O.J. Mayo, referring to the injured Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest.

Mayo has been taking care of plenty of opponents this season, scoring 21.0 points per game - tops among rookies. Mayo, who had 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting versus Houston, has made better than 50 percent of his shots in six of the last seven games, hitting 11-of-24 from 3-point range.

Against the Thunder on Nov. 29, Mayo shot 11-of-22, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, as he led the Grizzlies with 30 points.

Rudy Gay came off the bench Monday for the first time since April 16, 2007, for being late to a shootaround, and scored 20 points.

Memphis shot better than 51 percent from the field for the fourth time in seven games. Oklahoma City, meanwhile, has one of the league's worst defenses, allowing 47.7 percent shooting and 103.0 points per game.

Hakim Warrick, who scored 18 against Houston, is averaging 15.5 points and shooting 54.8 percent off the bench since scoring just three points in the loss to Oklahoma City.
