INSIDE THE NUMBERS

New York is 7-10 against the West this season after going 3-27 last season. Knicks forward Lee has five straight double-doubles. His 10 double-doubles this month lead the NBA. The Knicks eclipsed 100 points 16 times in 20 home games and are averaging 107.1 points at home, which is the fourth most in the NBA. New York is 1-14 when scoring fewer than 100. During the Grizzlies' seven-game losing streak, they've scored more than 90 just once and are averaging 85.9 during that span. The Grizzlies have given up more than 100 points six times during the skid. Slow starts doom the Griz as they are 0-16 this season when failing to reach 20 points in the first quarter. Gay is averaging 23.7 points in the Grizzlies' last three road games.

THE SKINNY

Memphis will look to avoid an eighth straight defeat, which would be the club's longest losing streak since a nine-game spiral last season. The Griz also want to avoid a seventh consecutive road loss. Memphis is 2-16 away from FedExForum and has not won a road game since Dec. 10 at Oklahoma City. New York handed Memphis a 29-point loss (132-103) in the teams' first meeting Nov. 12 in FedExForum. Memphis owns a 10-14 record in the overall series.

THE QUOTE

"People have all kinds of opinions. I don't take offense to any of it. They're entitled to their opinion, whether it's on blogs or call-in shows. No one likes to lose. I'm more concerned about getting an effort that's full time, especially in fourth quarters." - Marc Iavaroni, fired Thursday night as Griz coach, on the notion that his team quit amid its losing streak.
