Memphis Grizzlies Getting Inside 2008-11-14
As well as Grizzlies rookie guard O.J, Mayo is playing, second-year point guard Mike Conley is playing that poorly.

Conley is playing under 25 minutes a game, and not seeing much action in the fourth quarter, because of his lack of aggressiveness. He was awful in Wednesday night's 132-103 loss to the Knicks, scoring six points on 2-of-7 shooting, including a couple of airballs.

"He's not playing with confidence," Grizzlies coach Marc Iavaroni said. "He's got to play harder. When he plays hard, he's a good player. When he doesn't play hard, he's an average player."

Conley, who supposedly worked on his outside shot in the offseason, has been terrible from the field. Prior to Wednesday's game, Conley was shooting 32.3 percent from the field and averaging 5.3 points.

"I'm not the type of guy to tell or scream at myself, but I'm doing it on the inside," Conley said. "It's very frustrating for me that I'm not able to contribute offensively. I'm not looking for my shot as much as I did in the preseason and in the early games. This is one of those times where I have to overcome a bump in the road to make me a better man and a better player."

KNICKS 132, GRIZZLIES 103: The Grizzlies played with no intensity on either end of the floor, and it showed in the 29-point loss. From the second quarter on, Memphis didn't bother to close out the Knicks' shooters at the three-point line as New York drained an incredible 19-of-34 threes (a Knicks' franchise record). Seven different Knicks hit threes, including three Knicks hitting multiple threes with a perfect shooting percentage. Offensively, Memphis didn't share the ball. Defensively, the Grizzlies didn't rotate on defense.
