"Our guys responded and that's a good sign for a young team."
--Grizzlies majority owner Michael Heisley, desperately needing fans in the seats at the FedExForum (16,139) showed for the home opener, and was ecstatic to get the victory.
"I'm beside myself," Heisley said. "And talking to fans, they feel the same way I do. There was electricity in the house tonight. This team is about a bunch of young guys growing and getting better and better. Win or lose, I was proud of the effort."
--The Grizzlies started three rookies in the starting lineup (O.J. Mayo, Darrell Arthur and Marc Gasol) for the first time since starting three rooks in April, 2002 (Shane Battier, Pau Gasol and Will Solomon.
