Memphis Grizzlies Notes, Quotes 2009-11-01

Memphis Grizzlies Notes, Quotes 2009-11-01--The Grizzlies exercised contract options on guards Mike Conley and O.J. Mayo, and F Darrell Arthur, extending their rookie deals through the 2010-11 season. Conley had the fourth-year team option picked up while Mayo and Arthur were extended for a third season.

--It's unlikely the team will finalize a contract extension with F Rudy Gay before the Monday deadline. Negotiations between Gay's representatives and the Grizzlies haven't advanced far, and he looks to become a restricted free agent next summer.

--Despite the addition of Allen Iverson and Zach Randolph, the Grizzlies are still the youngest team in the NBA, averaging 25 years and 91 days as the average roster age.

--The Grizzlies have a brutal early season schedule. It was nice to open at home for their first two games of the season, but now Memphis plays 12 of the next 17 games on the road.

"We didn't want to go on the road 0-2 to start this five-game road trip against some pretty good teams (Nuggets, Kings, Warriors, Lakers, Clippers)," said Hollins after Friday's win over the Raptors.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We knew that wasn't us. We didn't play with passion. We went back to the lab, came back tonight and played like we practice." -- F Rudy Gay, on the team playing dead on arrival in Wednesday's 22-point season opening loss to the Pistons, then going back to practice to find their aggression.
