Memphis Grizzlies Notes, Quotes 2009-11-13

Memphis Grizzlies Notes, Quotes 2009-11-13--Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins met with former Colts coach Tony Dungy on Tuesday. Dungy was in Memphis to accept the AutoZone Liberty Bowl's Distinguished Citizen award and Hollins sought his advice on how to handle the Iverson situation.

"He told me to be myself and do what I felt was right," Hollins said of Dungy. "He said, 'You have to be stubborn.' Chuck Noll told him that being stubborn is a virtue if you're right. So you've got to believe. Hey, you never know. You have to believe you're right. If you're not right, then you know."

--The Grizzlies (1-8) have tied their worst start since 2006-07, but center Marc Gasol believes it's no time to panic.

"We need to keep working," Gasol said. "Stick to the plan, do what Coach tells us, that's it. We can't try to do it on our own. We need everybody."

--Last year, the Grizzlies traded backup point guard Kyle Lowry to the Rockets, as coach Lionel Hollins made the clear-cut decision to start Mike Conley.

In Wednesday's game, Conley started and had just two points, two assists and three rebounds. Lowry, in just over 29 minutes, almost had a triple-double with eight points, eight rebounds and 10 assists.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I remember Jack Ramsay used to say we can't be concerned with who's not here because they can't help us. And you guys have to go out and do your jobs, because you are here. And that's the way it is." -- Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins, on Allen Iverson's absence.
