--C Marc Gasol's streak of consecutive field goals made ended at 15 when he missed his last shot attempt vs. the Clips. Still, Gasol, who made all eight of his field goal attempts on Saturday vs. Minnesota, setting a franchise record. --Now that Allen Iverson is gone, the Grizzlies' marketing staff is left to pick up the pieces. Playing off Iverson's nickname, they came up with the promotion campaign "Answer the Call." "Our entire season campaign was not focused around Allen," insisted John Pugliese, senior director of marketing and communications. "It was focused around the young core of talent we had. So from a campaign standpoint, nothing will change. We have a loyal group of fans who are in this 'Griz Country' and part of 'Griz Nation,' and we've gotten a lot of support in the last day."
Still, the Grizzlies are about to be stuck with 3,000 Iverson jerseys that the team had planned to give away before the Grizzlies' game against the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 4. They are awaiting delivery at U.S. Customs, Pugliese said. He has no idea what to do with them.
"There are a lot of options," Pugliese said. "We want feedback from fans."
Meanwhile, all Iverson merchandise in the Grizzlies' team shop in FedExForum was being marked off 50 percent. All 90 remaining replica jerseys were slashed from $170 to $85.
