--Veteran point guard Jamaal Tinsley tried to play but was limited by lower back stiffness. Tinsley logged seven minutes in the first half but was unable to answer the call after halftime. Marcus Williams spelled Mike Conley in the second half. Tinsley was injured Sunday during practice. He didn't work out Monday and rode the stationary bike soon after tip-off against the Cavs. --The Grizzlies will honor Gene Bartow, who serves as president of Hoops LP ?- the club's parent company -- for his recent induction into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Bartow, a Memphis basketball icon, will be recognized Friday during an in-game presentation when the Grizzlies play Oklahoma City. The National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame is now the sixth Hall of Fame in which Bartow has been enshrined. --Allen who? When Allen Iverson was waived, the Grizzlies had to remove some billboards, ads and videos that featured Iverson. Last Friday was supposed to feature a giveaway of 3,000 Iverson jerseys, but those jerseys were donated to rookie Hasheem Thabeet's native Tanzania as part of the NBA's Basketball Without Borders program.
Grizzlies president of business operations Greg Campbell said a handful of fans requested refunds when Iverson abandoned the team. But after talking with unhappy fans and inviting them to a Suite Night with Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace, they were able to quell the uprising of discontent.
