Memphis Grizzlies Notes, Quotes 2009-12-12
--The Grizzlies are trying to free former Houston Rockets G Von Wafer from his European club team contract in order to sign him. Wafer, a 6-5 guard who played in the NBA for the Rockets, Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets and Trail Blazers during a four-year career that began in 2005, is being paid $2 million this season by Olympiakos, a European club team on which Wafer hasn't seen much playing time. Wafer last played in the NBA with the Rockets during the 2008-09 season when he averaged 9.7 points on 44.7-percent shooting. He connected on 39 percent of his three-point attempts. --Memphis had a three-game win streak snapped, dropping to 6-4 at home. That's one off the franchise's best-ever 10-game home start of 7-3, set in 2003-04, when the Grizzlies finished with a franchise-record 31 home victories and the club's first-ever playoff berth.
--Friday's game matched the two youngest teams in the league. The Thunder entered the 2009-10 season as the second-youngest team in the NBA with an average age of 25 years and 130 days, trailing only the Memphis Grizzlies (average age of 25 years and 92 days).
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I think we ran out of gas." -- G Mike Conley, on the Grizzlies' fourth-quarter fade.
