"We started the game with a lot of energy," coach Lionel Hollins said. "We lost it a little bit but then came out in the third and got it back." --Coach Lionel Hollins is appreciating veterans Greg Buckner and Quinton Ross, because they have provided wisdom to the younger Grizzlies players.
"We've got good pieces as far as talent, but talent alone doesn't win you games in this league," said Buckner, who is in his 10th season. "You've got to put in a foundation, and guys have to accept their roles. Guys have to understand that we're working toward something."
Ross, a fifth-year player, takes his role as mentor seriously.
"We're just trying to teach these guys that you can't be on cruise control in this league," Ross said. "We have a lot of talented guys. But this whole league is talented."
