Memphis Grizzlies Roster Report 2009-11-23

Memphis Grizzlies Roster Report 2009-11-23ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Mike Conley, Shooting guard O.J. Mayo, Small forward Rudy Gay, Power forward Zach Randolph, Center Marc Gasol. Bench -- Forward DeMarre Carroll, guard Sam Young, guard Marcus Williams.

PLAYER NOTES:

--Veteran PG Jamaal Tinsley, signed as a free agent just more than a week ago after 1 1/2 years away from the NBA, didn't play Saturday. He didn't mind because he's still trying to get into game shape and learn the offense.

Until Tinsley, 31, entered his first Grizzlies game on Wednesday, he had last played in the NBA on Feb. 5, 2007, after which the Pacers told him to pack his bags because of off-court problems. Tinsley relocated to Miami, where he ran four to five miles on the beach every other day and hoped for another shot.

"It's a business, I understand that," Tinsley said. "If I was younger, I would've been irritated. The only thing I could control was staying in shape. These young guys here have to take advantage of what they have while they're young, because nothing is ever promised."

--F Rudy Gay had his second consecutive double-double (and his third of the year) with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Yet the Griz lost. "We were the aggressors early and then we just quit doing that," Gay said.

--C Marc Gasol's 6-of-8 field-goal shooting means he has made 27 of 32 field goals in his last four games. His 14 points and 14 rebounds gave him his seventh double-double of the young season.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F Darrell Arthur is out for four months after surgery to repair a partially torn pectoral muscle.
