Even in Memphis' fourth-quarter collapse on Sunday, Gasol still had a monster game with 26 points, five rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. He's making a strong early season case to win the league's Most Improved Player award. The 7-1, 265-pounder leads the NBA with 65.2 percent shooting. No Grizzlies player has ever finished a season leading a major statistical category.
--C Hasheem Thabeet has somewhat come of age on this road trip -- he had three points, five rebounds and a blocked shot Sunday -- and as a result has gotten more minutes. That has enabled starting center Marc Gasol to stay out of foul trouble and it kept him fresher.
