Raptors put hurt on Griz

Raptors put hurt on Griz
Raptors 103, Grizzlies 82

TORONTO - It's a good thing the Grizzlies have three days between now and their next game.

Growing more weary by the losses, they could use a timeout.

"It's a tough stretch," Griz forward Rudy Gay said, sighing. "Everybody's feeling it."

Hakim Warrick moved slowly trying to dress in his locker, rookie O.J. Mayo walked gingerly to the showers after playing through a hip pointer and the Grizzlies defense got smacked around - again.

It was a night of hurt for the Griz, who suffered a 103-82 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Friday in Air Canada Center.

The Grizzlies, losers of three straight, have dropped 11 of their past 13 contests.

Toronto shot a season-high 55.6 percent, and did so without two starters as Jermaine O'Neal (right knee) sat for the sixth straight game and Jose Calderon (right hamstring) missed his fourth in a row.

"We won a game we're supposed to," Raptors forward Chris Bosh said after amassing 32 points and 10 rebounds. "We're just trying to keep everything moving. We know that the schedule is going to get a little more challenging from here on out. We just have to keep doing the things we're doing."

Ouch.

Memphis at least owned a lead for the first time in three games at one point Friday, even though its advantage was never more than one point. The Griz have scored less than 90 points five times in the past six games.

"They did a really good job of making us go to our third and fourth options," Warrick said. "They did a good job of stopping the strong side and making us go to the weak side."

Gay led the Griz with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Warrick added 18 off the bench and Mayo struggled through 4-of-14 shooting for 11 points.

The rookie guard got a hip pointer when he collided with Toronto's Jamario Moon in the first period. He returned in the second quarter as the Griz rallied from an early 13-point deficit to trail 47-44 at halftime.
